MISSION

Columbia County Women's Resource Center empowers our community to live safe healthy lives, free from abuse.

AGENCY PHILOSOPHY
We believe that through education, promotion of equality, and advocating for social policies that empower oppressed persons, we can help change societal conditions that cause violence.

Columbia County Women's Resource Center, established as a grassroots organization in 1979, is a group of highly qualified staff and volunteers from many walks of life.  Our goal is to respond to a recognized and growing need for services for victims and survivors of family violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and for persons facing other crises.
Because Columbia County Women's Resource Center upholds the basic dignity of the individual, persons coming to us for assistance are treated with respect and are given nonjudgemental support.  We believe that all persons are equal.  Discrimination on the basis of ability, class, age, gender, spiritual beliefs, racial or ethnic background or sexual orientation is a denial of this equality.
We believe that every individual has a right to exercise her or his freedom of choice, encouraging those people with whom we work to make decisions for themselves regarding all aspects of their lives.  Columbia County Women's Resource Center works to provide the resources and support that encourages self-empowerment.

We see education as a tool, as a means to dispel the many myths surrounding rape and family violence.  We believe the education of individuals and society is vital to ending violence and oppression.
