Shelter Advocate        Pay range       $8.80 - $9.50

Part time position 20 Hrs weekly

 

Education/Work Experience: high school diploma or GED with some experience working with survivors.

Possess a solid understanding of the effects of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault and emergency shelter dynamics.

·         Must be able to work flexible hours to respond to shelter emergencies on nights and weekends.

·         Have reliable transportation with a valid driver’s licenses and insurance.

·         Able to work in team setting.

 

Position duties:

Oversee shelter maintenance and facility needs

Empower women to become self sufficient

Avoid enabling and dependent behaviors

Duties to include but not limited to:

·         Safety

·         Cleaning

·         Food intake and distributions

·         Organize storage and distribution of donations for shelter clients

·         Screenings (team decision)

·         Intake

·         Case management

·         Lead house meetings

·         Offer skills training

·         Moral support

·         Role model

 

 

Prevention & Outreach Advocate      Pay range  $11.00 - $12.00

Part-time 20hrs weekly

 

Education/Work Experience: Associates degree or combination education and 2 years’ experience in the field.

Possess a solid understanding of the effects of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault and the dynamics of healthy relationships.

·         Must be able to work flexible hours covering events during the evenings and on weekends.

·         Have reliable transportation with a valid driver’s licenses and insurance.

·         Able to work in team setting.

 

Position Duties:

·         Able to present to large groups of children, adolescents and adults.

·         Build working relationships with community partners

·         Plan and organize outreach awareness events in collaboration with the DV/SA Advocate

·         Establish working relationship with schools with the goal to get “Teen Relationships” training into all high schools in Columbia County.

·         Facilitate Family Violence Council (FVC)

·         Back-up for client services in the community
